05 August 2022 Things to be aware considering plastic waste in the sea.

The issue with the plastic waste in the sea is a huge problem concerning many countries.

Most of this waste comes from land-based activities, such as waste from water drainage systems, improper management and garbage dumped on beaches and coastal areas from various businesses and consumers including tourism activities etc.

The waste in the sea that worries environmental scholars most is "plastic waste".

Each year, there is a campaign around the world to reduce the use of plastic, especially plastic bags.

However, the global plastics industry continues to expand business as much as the market is demanding.

Since the days when plastic is widely used in industrial circles, the forecast of plastic have been produced to the global market exceeding 9 billion metric tons.

Every year, about 12 million tons of plastic waste is dumped into the sea and oceans of which only 5% is visible floating.

The other 95% sinks and floats in the ocean currents around the world, and some plastic waste will take over 450 years to decompose because most of them are lightweight, they are carried by waves, wind and currents.

Let's Sea recognise that this problem requires cooperation from many parties.

Both systematic problems solving to changing attitudes and behaviors at the individual level such as proper waste management, less plastic products and in particular the public awareness of packaging consumption.

Reduce and stop using plastic from the beginning because solving the problem at the end of the incident after the waste has occurred is not easy to get rid of.

We should help each other for our bright sea.
