7 September 2022 Using the Fish Stunner to Prepare Fresh Seafood


Many people will have heard of restaurants using the ‘Fish Stunner’ to prepare fresh fish, but they may not know what benefits it offers or how many different kinds of Fish Stunner are available.


This is used in restaurants to ensure that when seafood is put in front of customers, it’s always as fresh, delicious and attractive as possible. The machine works by passing a mild electric current through a saltwater bath that contains the seafood to be processed, but unlike traditional methods, neither ice nor physical force is used. Instead, the current rapidly renders the seafood unconscious and within around 90 seconds (though the exact time will depend on the weight of the produce), the contents will be ready for cooking. The Fish Stunner is available in two sizes.


The Fish Stunner 100 has a capacity of 10-20 kilograms and is suitable for most restaurants, though given its capacity of 100-120 kilograms, larger establishments and industrial users may prefer to think about buying the Fish Stunner 250.
